Primary Position ObjectivesResponsible for providing students with a safe and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement and success. Oversee the daily management of social development programs, related activities and use proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and problems. Manages non-class hours residential living environment and ensures quality recreational and evening programming to enhance student independent living and employability skills. Perform duties of in charge of Center campus during the absence(s) and on behalf of the Center Director and/or Social Development Director. Oversee all departments after business hours including residential living, recreation, security, cafeteria and any other departments functioning during the prime shift or other times as needed. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.Management and Supervision:Supervises and manages the program and activities of the Social Development Department when on duty. May be assigned Acting Social Development Director in Director's absence, which includes and implies acting on behalf of the Center Director and Social Development Director.Brief Description of DutiesFollows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data.Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.Supports the Social Development Director in interviewing, recommending for hire, discipline, recommending for termination and evaluating the performance of the employees in the Social Development Department.Responsible for providing students with quality and structured non-class hour activities including leadership, student government, recreation, extended training day and other special programs. Ensures that Center facilities are organized, clean, safe and conducive to student achievement and success. Responsible for the behavior management system of the Center during non-class hours to ensure safety of staff and students. Coordinates staff coverage (residential living, security, recreation, cafeteria) to ensure student areas are supervised. Collaborate with respective department managers and supervisors as necessary.Foster a positive normative culture for the betterment of the Center program and performance. Ensure completion of any Serious Incident Reports and complete information timely and accurately for review and submission to DOL.Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.Ensures effective controls and minimal usage of overtime through people management. Employs sound time-management and delegation skills. Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals.Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.Effectively motivates, empowers and requires staff to perform his/her job responsibilities. Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns. Develops Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training and WBL. Promotes a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials. Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH. Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior. Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services. Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested. Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and ensures that problems are, in fact, corrected. Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students. Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Social Development Director to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.Performs other duties as assigned by management.  QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Minimum of one to two years related experience in education.Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel.  ExperienceMinimum of two years' related experience as Residential Advisor or related supervisory experience in a similar environment is preferred. EducationHigh School diploma or equivalent required. Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited school or preferred. A minimum of one year experience in program management and direction with substantial experience working with youth.
