Hospitality Accountant

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Hospitality Accountant is responsible for supporting Hospitality Accounting functions including monthly end close, reconciliations, taxes, tasks, and journals. This position will also review the daily Flash and DOR prior to issuance as well as lead the month-end end closing process for the Hospitality Accounting team in accordance with GAAP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary: Assist the Hospitality Accounting Manager and the Senior Hospitality Accountant with implementing and achieving department goals that support the overall property strategic tactics Ensure the timely and accurate monthly and annual closing of the general ledger Maintain the general ledger chart of accounts and underlying financial reporting Work with General Ledger Accounting to post and reconcile banking clearing accounts Enforce internal accounting controls and assurance of compliance with SOX Prepare journal entries, reconciliation, and tax preparations Assist in the daily Hospitality Accounting audit to include reconciling, analyzing, recording, and reviewing documents for proper completion Assist in the preparation of tax returns including NGC gaming taxes, entertainment taxes, sales taxes, and room taxes Monitor 1099 and W-2G activity on a weekly basis Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and county regulatory requirements including taxes, reporting and compliance with Minimum Internal Control Standards, Standards of Operation and Management, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Bank Secrecy Act reporting requirements Prepare and review all internal daily reports, Flash & Daily Operating Report Facilitate external and internal audit and Gaming Control Board as needed to complete regulatory and operational audits Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of six (6) months previous hospitality accounting, revenue audit, or internal audit experience required Experience working for a large-scale resort and casino is preferred Direct experience in GAAP financial statement preparation required Experience in working with all levels of management, including executives and consulting with various departments Experience pulling financial reports and utilizing them to make recommendations and decisions based on financial data Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, innovative, flexible, and task-oriented, and can work independently with minimal direction Must be flexible, able to handle multiple tasks, and establish priorities effectively Intermediate/advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) Ability to exercise professional discretion and judgment Ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data and draw logical conclusions Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing work situations and environments. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of Company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with guests, management, Members, and other outside contacts Excellent organizational skills; be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays, nights, and weekends Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
