Job Summary Work Shift: Day (United States of America). The Staff Radiation Therapist in the Radiation Oncology Department applies ionizing radiation to a diverse population of patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Required experience: minimum 2 years in Radiation Therapy. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Participates in Quality Control monitoring. Delivers consistent precise therapy to a designated treatment area. Demonstrates skill in patient assessment, performing procedures and providing specialty care, considering patients' ages (adolescent, adult, geriatric). Documents appropriately in Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Willingness to perform additional tasks and assists others when necessary. Recognizes own limitations and seeks assistance as needed. Reports adverse reactions to physician immediately and follows policies and procedures for documentation. Educates patient/family on expected side effects and use of blocks, wedges, and other treatment aids. Follows physician prescription and physicist instruction in chart or computer for precise treatment. Understands and completes patient set‑ups correctly. Simulates new patients and/or new treatment fields with no errors and according to physician's written order in EMR. Schedules patients appropriately and informs them of any changes prior to implementation. Ensures safety to self and patient following proper procedures. Assesses patient mobility, manages accordingly, and reviews EMR for fall precautions. Wears radiation safety badges at all times. Practices universal precautions. Participates in daily warm‑up procedures to ensure output is within tolerances. Advises manager of discrepancies and material items needing replacement or repair. Performs other tasks as assigned. Participates in on‑call rotation. Serves as a student clinical instructor with RTT and RTR students; evaluates students and provides feedback to Clinical Advisor. Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Minimum Education Associates in another related field or from an accredited program. Required Minimum Licenses and Certification(s) ARRT‑T – ARRT Radiation Therapy; BLS – Basic Life Support or ARC‑BLS – American Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support Instructor. Required Minimum Experience Minimum 2 years in Radiation Therapy. Preferred – graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program. Required Minimum Skills Demonstrates ability to treat and simulate patients. #J-18808-Ljbffr
