The Facility Maintenance Tech is responsible for facility equipment, grounds, and buildings in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures through preventative maintenance, repairs, and upkeep on a regular basis. This is a full time, 40 hr/wk position with weeknight, weekend & holiday On Call rotation.

Education and/or Experience:

• High School diploma or GED

• Electrical, mechanical, plumbing, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance required.

• Awareness of safe working procedures and Health and safety requirements preferred.

• Previous experience of working in Healthcare premises preferred.

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations

• Valid NE driver’s license

SIGNIFICANT DUTIES               

•             Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.

•             Keeps the building, grounds, and all equipment in good repair. 

•             Communicates problems, conditions, and issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.

•             Provides excellent service to patients, residents, guests, and co-workers. 

•             Must respect the privacy of patients and must always maintain confidentiality.

•             Occasionally required to meet with contractors at various locations to disseminate site-specific knowledge to enable work to be carried out.  

•             Monitors contractors as needed

•             Carry and respond to communication devices (mobile phone/Handheld device). 

•             Comply with Health and Safety regulations and safe systems of work, reporting any defects immediately to the Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Services Manager. 

Knowledge Training and Experience 

•             Understand Electrical/Mechanical engineering and basic building principles to carry out a range of basic maintenance tasks. 

•             Commitment to Customer Care. 

•             Accept and utilize training and development offered to carry out duties and responsibilities to achieve a high-quality service. 

•             Assess and diagnose faults on complex building services plant and equipment 

•             Maintain the facilities grounds and landscaping needs

Planning and Organizational Skills 

•             Organize daily work patterns around identified demands and priorities.         

•             Use of appropriate tools and equipment including those specialized to specific duties or trades. 

•             Perform meter readings, monitor deliveries of oil and other consumable commodities in accordance with local procedures. 

•             Drive facilities vehicles regularly. 

Responsibility for Patient/Client Care 

•             Daily work on units and other healthcare properties to provide a well-maintained, clean, physically safe, accessible and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors. 

Responsibility for Policy/Service Development 

•             To contribute to and work within a safe working environment

•             Provide input as opportunities arise.

•             Assist in carrying out maintenance routines both general and planned on a wide range of electrical and mechanical plant equipment which includes: 

•             Lights and lighting systems including cleaning and lamp replacement 

•             Kitchen and catering equipment 

•             Domestic appliances 

•             Portable appliances including tests and basic repairs 

•             Monitoring of gas fired boilers 

•             HVAC systems 

•             Domestic hot and cold-water services 

•             Firefighting equipment 

•             Fire alarm testing 

•             Generator testing 

•             Legionella checks 

•             Eye wash station inspections

•             Underground Sprinkler Systems

•             Floor maintenance and repair

Must be able to demonstrate key skills:

•             Assist higher skilled grades on new work and repairs. 

•             Carry out minor installation work when required. 

•             Work overtime when requested (i.e. snow removal, security breach, mass incident, etc.).

•             Participate in an off hours on-call schedule regularly.

•             Maintain workshops and other facilities operational spaces in a clean and tidy condition. 

•             Complete log sheets, report sheets, Electronic Inspections, and test certificates for legislative and statutory requirements as necessary
