Associate Manager, HSE

Bayer is seeking an Associate Manager, HSE to support sites in Hawaii (Oahu, Maui, Molokai). The role will involve health, safety, and environmental programs, inspections, compliance, training, incident investigations, audits, permitting, and capital project support. Your Tasks And Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Manager – HSE, are to: Support Crop Science sites in the specified Hawaiian islands and oversee development of site HSE personnel. Collaborate cross-functionally with Business Leaders, Site Leaders, Regional HSE, Site HSE and technical personnel to establish cost‑effective measures to reduce risks, comply with safety and health regulations, and achieve objectives. Work with sites to oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of site procedures to ensure personnel, contractor, and facility compliance with regulatory and company requirements. Champion the collection, dissemination, and execution of best practice sharing within the region; act as a change agent to identify, communicate, and evolve continuous improvement efforts. Ensure completion of incident investigations, root cause analysis, and trend analysis, including the identification and tracking of corrective actions and verification of their effectiveness. Conduct facility HSE compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments, including participation during corporate audits. Support preparation of HSE permits and reports to ensure regulatory compliance with air permits, waste management, worker protection, and Tier II requirements. Provide technical and functional support to capital projects, new equipment purchases, expansions, mergers & acquisitions, divestments, and expense spending related to site improvement plans. Travel extensively and drive more than 5,000 business miles annually in a company vehicle or pooled vehicle. Who You Are Required Qualifications Education : Minimum of a B.A. or B.S. in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety and/or Environmental Management, or related field. Experience : Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience related to HSE within the agricultural, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, research, healthcare or chemical industry (or a Master’s degree and 6 years of professional experience). Technical experience and acumen with OSHA, EPA, and State Specific requirements. Ability to travel up to 50% domestically (mostly between the Hawaiian islands and periodic travel to the mainland U.S.). Valid driver’s license; MVR will be reviewed during pre‑employment screening. Skills & Competencies Expert knowledge of U.S. EPA and applicable state requirements, advanced knowledge of OSHA and Consensus Standards, and the ability to apply these to agricultural manufacturing and site operations. Demonstrated collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to influence, partner, and communicate effectively across site leadership, operations, and functional teams. Ability to work independently across a geographically dispersed environment, using sound technical judgment, self‑direction, and collaborative problem solving. Ability to learn new software programs, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to management. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $109,280 to $163,920 per year. Additional compensation may include bonuses or commissions. Benefits include health, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
