Overview
USU Extension in Salt Lake County is seeking a highly qualified Program Coordinator II to join the Youth & Family Resilience Team as a Project CREST Coach & Co-Coordinator. This position supports school-based initiatives designed to strengthen family engagement, enhance school-family partnerships, and build students' social-emotional skills and resilience. A central component of this work is facilitating a multi-tiered system of training, coaching, technical assistance, and implementation support. The Program Coordinator II will serve as the primary liaison for around 8 partner schools in Salt Lake County, providing ongoing coaching and consultation to school personnel as they progress through the phases of project implementation and sustainability. In addition, the Program Coordinator II will independently manage and coordinate key Project CREST activities, including staff training and professional development, development of implementation materials and resources, prevention education programming, and support the broader initiative as needed. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project management, relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, families, and community partners. This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of grant funding. Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate the day-to-day operations of assigned projects and support the network of part-time school site coordinators.
- Independently assess community and school needs, analyze partner input and program data, and determine priorities for project implementation strategies.
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and oversight to project team members across the network of participating schools to ensure compliance with project implementation requirements and family engagement best practices.
- Serve as a principal liaison between the USU project team and school district representatives such as prevention coordinators, principals, social workers, and family engagement staff to align programming with identified needs and for project recruitment, planning, implementation, and quality improvement.
- Coordinate project initiatives with state and local stakeholders and collaborators such as managers of state and county youth serving agencies, including synthesizing program data and outcomes into professional reports and summaries and presenting at meetings and conferences.
- Analyze implementation challenges and independently develop viable solutions.
- Create and provide trainings and professional development opportunities for school project coordinators, project team members, interns, volunteers, and collaborators from other agencies, providing consultative guidance based on subject matter expertise in youth and family resilience and family engagement best practices.
- Oversee the training and development of a team of parent educators and teach parent workshops, establishing processes to monitor instructional effectiveness and fidelity to curriculum standards.
- Write, edit, and coordinate the development of promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, and other implementation-related materials, serving as the content expert in family engagement and youth resilience.
- Develop research-based curricula and lesson materials for workshops to be taught to students, parents, and school personnel, ensuring alignment with evidence-based instructional strategies and grant objectives.
- Assist the project director with the evaluation of project activities, including collecting and analyzing data to inform program improvements; preparing scheduled and special reports to funders, including drafting narrative content and contributing to compliance documentation; and maintaining program records and statistical information.
- Assist with fiscal management of project funds, analyzing budgets and compiling summary reports to ensure strategic and responsible spending of available funds.
- Participate in writing grants and proposals to sustain and strategically expand these projects and programs, including contributing program design language, objectives, and measurable outcomes.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, consistent with the coordination and administration of project objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Development, Family Studies, Psychology, Social Work or other related field, plus two years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in a related filed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Direct experience working in or with schools and communicating with school administrators
- Experience serving as a coach, mentor, or trainer
- Curriculum development or instructional design experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience designing trainings and professional development opportunities
- Willingness to work some evenings
- Master's degree in Education, Human Development, Family Studies, Psychology, Social Work or other related field, plus four or more years of relevant experience
- Experience providing coaching or technical support to project implementation staff, coordinators, and/or educators
- Experience teaching parenting education workshops
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Experience developing marketing plans and materials
- Experience teaching or facilitating educational content to youth, adults, and/or school personnel
- Experience with project management
- Familiarity with all aspects of program implementation, from conceptualization to evaluating outcomes
- Experience working for, or closely with, a land-grant Extension system
