We offer patients convenient access to innovative treatments and advancements that improve the health and overall well-being of our community.ResponsibilitiesDevelops a staffing schedule based on skill mix/unit needsPerforms staffing assessments and makes adjustments as neededAssists the Nurse Manager in completing annual performance evaluationsEvaluates departmental policies and procedures on an annual basis and ensures compliance with current regulationsCollaborates with the Nurse Manager and Unit Educator in the development and implementation of educational programs and the maintenance of skills for continued employee developmentPerforms payroll functions as directedUtilizes a personal computer to access the Hospital Information SystemAssists the Nurse Manager in developing unit goals and objectives and implements standards of care and practiceInforms Nurse Manager of clinical, management, and personnel issues that impact patient care and require the Nurse Manager's interventionAssists with the development and implementation of the unit's Quality Assurance ProgramAssists the staff in providing continuity of care, patient teaching, and discharge planning by acting as liaison between patient, family, physicians, and social workerMaintains clinical competency and functions as a staff nurse when neededFunctions as clinical role model and resource person for staff in dealing with difficult patient care situationsAssists manager in implementation of new services or programsCommunicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team in person and via telephoneMaintains accurate and complete recordsMaintains Quality Management and Variance reportsResponds to digital, voice and overhead pagesAccepts and completes all duties positively and without conflictCooperates and helps others and improves the performance of the unitCompletes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirementsUtilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the jobAdheres to current Infection Control and Safety StandardsParticipates on committees as assignedParticipates in Performance Improvement activities as assignedRegular and prompt attendanceAbility to work schedule as defined and additional hours as requiredRelated duties as required.QualificationsGraduation from an accredited school of nursing and 3 years professional nursing experience in the area of clinical focus RequiredBCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire RequiredComparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer The University of South Alabama is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, religion, age, genetic information, disability, protected veteran status or any other applicable legally protected basis.
