About the Role The Financial Risk Analyst assists in supporting the bank’s corporate, enterprise, and financial risk management practices, ensuring compliance with the company’s risk appetite, key risk indicators, policies, and procedures. Under the supervision of the Financial and Model Risk Director, the analyst supports risk management initiatives, contributes to challenge reviews of business unit processes, models, and assumptions, and supports cross‑departmental projects. Collaborate with business units that support financial and enterprise risk. Assist in root cause analysis and challenge business unit processes, controls, methodologies, and assumptions related to the bank’s Financial Risk Management program. Support development and implementation of processes to improve monitoring, reporting, and measurement within the financial and enterprise risk management frameworks. Monitor internal, market, and regulatory conditions and assess potential risks. Prepare reports and analysis for senior management and various committees. Engage, support, and participate in the Financial and Model Risk Management and Enterprise Risk Management programs. Support ad hoc requests from business units, senior management, and regulators. Ensure activities meet internal policy and regulatory standards of effective challenge. Demonstrate compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job functions and stay current on regulatory changes. Follow all bank policies, compliance regulations, and complete required annual or job‑specific training. Maintain knowledge of the bank’s written policies regarding the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, bank security, and other applicable regulations. Coach, mentor, or train others as a subject‑matter expert as needed. Learn, demonstrate, and foster Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words. About You Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or Finance (Required). Master’s Degree / MBA in Economics, Accounting, or Finance (Preferred). 2–5 years experience as a Financial Risk Analyst, Financial Analyst, Risk Analyst, or similar in banking or financial services (Required). General understanding of statistical modeling and econometric forecasting. Knowledge of financial and enterprise risk management frameworks and stress testing. Understanding of regulatory requirements related to financial and model risk management (FRB/OCC SR11‑7, 10‑6, 10‑1), Basel II/III capital requirements, and Dodd‑Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST). Familiarity with various risk frameworks, accounting standards, and financial reports. Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management tools (SQL, Python, etc.) – a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate financial analysis into clear, practical insights for business teams. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. Certification as Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRMIA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a plus. Benefits We offer competitive total rewards, with a pay range of $86,000.00 – $110,000.00 based on experience, education, geographic location, and performance. The role may be eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation.
