Prepared Foods Associate

Description Keweenaw Co-op is seeking a reliable, friendly, flexible, and food-focused Prepared Foods Associate to join our team. Full time work (32-40 hours) is preferred, but part time applicants (24 hours) will also be considered. This role is essential to the daily operation of our prepared foods department/deli and helps create a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality experience for our members and customers. Prepared Foods Associates assist with preparing fresh foods, stocking displays, maintaining food safety standards, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Schedule & Availability Requirements This position requires open availability and the ability to work a flexible schedule. Typical shifts may include: Early morning shifts starting as early as 7:00 AM Mid-day shifts starting at 10 AM Closing shifts ending around 8:30 PM Weekend availability is required Applicants must be comfortable working a variety of shifts based on department needs. What You’ll Do Prepare and packaged/grab & go foods such as sandwiches, salads, and pizzas Stock and maintain prepared food cases and retail displays Follow food safety, sanitation, and allergen-handling standards Provide friendly, helpful customer service to members and shoppers Assist with cleaning, dishwashing, inventory support, and temperature logs Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked prepared foods workspace Support the Prepared Foods Coordinator and Fresh Manager with daily operations as needed What We’re Looking For Open availability and flexibility with scheduling (required) Weekend availability is required Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Friendly, team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic Prior kitchen, deli, or food service experience preferred Pay Pay: From $14.50 per hour with advancement potential Benefits Full Time Only Medical Benefits Short Term Disability and Life insurance Two Paid Holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas Day off) Full Time and Part Time Dental and Vision Benefits (after 90 days for full time, 6 months for part time) 401K Retirement Plan with Match 20% Store Discount Employee Assistance Program (free anonymous counseling) Sick and Paid Time Off Holiday Pay on Holidays Worked (New Year's, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day) Work Location In person Qualifications Excellent customer service skills Able to work a flexible schedule to support the business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Dependable attendance is required. Ability to use a knife safely and efficiently Ability to use a slicer safely Ability to use time effectively Ability to follow all policies and procedures Ability to lift and carry 30-50 lbs.
