Role Description The Intake Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Detroit, MI, responsible for welcoming and onboarding individuals seeking services. This position conducts client intake interviews, collects and verifies personal and insurance information, and accurately documents data in organizational systems. The Intake Specialist explains program offerings, eligibility criteria, and next steps, while answering questions and directing clients to appropriate staff or resources. Day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining organized records, coordinating appointments, supporting smooth service referrals, and collaborating with team members to ensure a respectful, client-centered experience. The role also involves handling phone and in-person inquiries, managing sensitive information with confidentiality, and contributing to a positive and inclusive environment. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills to interact effectively with diverse clients and team members. Candidates should possess Client Intake and Customer Service skills to conduct interviews, gather information, and provide a supportive experience. Candidates should possess Insurance knowledge to collect, verify, and explain insurance-related information as needed. Experience working with individuals facing employment barriers or within social services, workforce development, or nonprofit settings is beneficial. Ability to manage confidential information, maintain accurate records, and use basic computer applications and data entry tools is required. High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education or relevant certifications in human services, social work, or related fields are a plus.
