District Accountability and Improvement Specialist
The District Accountability and Improvement Specialist consults with district administrators, school-level leaders, and teachers on the extent to which data-indicated findings may influence next steps for improved outcomes as per the College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) formula and other relevant criteria. This position functions as a coach to teachers and leaders through the lens of alignment to intent and rigor of grade and course-specific standards with a focus on evidence-based practice and data-driven decision making. With a focus on teacher and leader clarity, this position will coordinate and support elementary, middle, and high school testing and accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Disaggregate, calculate, and interpret student assessment data, which will include all state assessments, local benchmark assessments, and curriculum-based assessments given by the district throughout the school year, in conjunction with the Curriculum and Instruction Department.
- Create and disseminate data analysis reports to various stakeholders that accurately reflect student achievement and identify trends in progress or instructional gaps.
- Communicate to school leaders, staff, and the public (as assigned) the status of internal and external district and school accountability systems.
- Predict and consult on CCRPI category outcomes using benchmark data at the district and school level in comparison with state level data.
- Collaborate with district faculty/staff to ensure the accuracy of College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) for the district and schools.
- Coordinate all district testing programs (e.g., Georgia Milestones, ACCESS, etc.) - addressing scheduling, training staff, distributing materials, and ensuring proper administration across schools.
- Consult on Georgia Department of Education, state, and federal regulations, including test security procedures, required documentation, adherence to testing calendars, and accurate submission of reports and data by mandated deadlines.
- Coach teachers and leaders, via support of district Guiding Coalition initiatives, toward assessment alignment and effective responses to data-indicated needs in the classroom and beyond.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Minimum Education: Master's Degree or higher in Curriculum and Instruction (or related field)
- Hold or be eligible for Tier I certification in Educational Leadership
- Valid Georgia Professional Educator Certificate
- Minimum Experience/Qualifications: Five (5) years of teaching experience in public education, including classroom teaching, with documented evidence of significant positive learning outcomes, or related educational experience (required)
- Three (3) years in educational leadership roles (preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in galvanizing teams toward a shared vision for collective efficacy
- Experience in developing and effectively executing short and long-range plans
- Excellent communication skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of best practices for both strategic planning and instructional coaching
- Skill in analysis of data and problem-solving
- Skill in communicating data-indicated findings in relevant/meaningful ways to drive next steps for effective instruction
- Knowledge of program evaluation and progress monitoring for academic gains in a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)
- Effective written and oral communication
- Record of accomplishment in establishing and maintaining a positive and collaborative culture
- Knowledge of project management and organizational effectiveness through the lens of The Working Genius framework (Lencioni, 2023)
- Ability to consistently leverage a continuous improvement mindset within a systems approach
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with frequent interaction with staff, schools, media, and community stakeholders. Availability outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends, is required for media response, crisis communication, and district events.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with district procedures and expectations for consultative staff.
