The University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg campus, invitesapplicants for a full-time (9 months), tenure track Assistant Professorposition in Cellular and Molecular Biology within the School of Biological,Environmental, and Earth Sciences beginning August 2027. A successful applicantwould contribute to the scholarship and teaching mission of the school. Theywould develop an internationally recognized, extramurally funded researchprogram. Applications from exceptional candidates will be considered in allareas of molecular, cellular, systems biology, cancer biology, immunology,vector biology, and infectious disease. Preference will be given to individualswho show potential to integrate with existing institutional research strengths.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop a robust, extramurally funded research program in an area of molecular and cellular biology.
2. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in line with area of expertise.
3. Mentor graduate students to further their professional development.
4. Contribute to the service mission of the University, college, and school by participating in school, college, and university service activities.
5. Advise students in the School of Biological, Environmental, and Earth Sciences.
6. Perform outreach to raise profile of institutional programs.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in molecular and cellular biology or related field.
Postdoctoral training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to produce high-quality scientific documents in the form of manuscripts and grant proposals.
• Operation of instrumentation required to conduct research in their area of expertise.

Preferred Qualifications Evidence of exceptional scientific accomplishments such as publication of high impact research in internationally recognized journals.
Successful grant applications or other evidence of ability to secure extramural funds.
Prior experienceteaching at the collegiate level.
