Manager Preclinical Research Strategy and Operations

Vertex Pharmaceuticals seeks a Manager of Preclinical Research Strategy and Operations to coordinate business operations across the Preclinical Sciences organization. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Legal, and Lab Operations to drive process improvements, manage vendor relationships, and support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced biotech environment.

Responsibilities

Partner with Preclinical Sciences leadership to support strategic and operational initiatives across the department
Liaison with Procurement, Legal, Outsourced Contracting, Lab Operations, and Records Management to coordinate operational activities
Drive vendor engagement, contracting workflows, and departmental operational processes
Identify efficiency opportunities and support change management for new processes, systems, or organizational priorities
Develop operational procedures, dashboards, and tracking tools to improve visibility and accountability

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, operations, or related field
5+ years of strategic operations, business operations, or project management experience
Cross-functional coordination experience with research, procurement, legal, and lab operations teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or regulated life sciences environments
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, dynamic settings

Compensation: $124,000 - $186,000 base
