Associate Director, Research Strategy and Operations, Hematology R&D

Associate Director leading research strategy and operations within AstraZeneca's Hematology R&D division, focusing on translational medicine and biomarker development. The role integrates scientific strategy across teams to advance hematological cancer therapies through multi-omics research and precision diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Integrate scientific objectives and analytical approaches across translational medicine teams, data scientists, and project stakeholders
• Apply multi-omic and phenotypic marker knowledge to develop biomarker strategies including tissue profiling and liquid biopsy approaches
• Evaluate external partners through scientific due diligence to inform partnership and MRD strategy decisions
• Lead meetings driving translational deliverables, identify risks, and coordinate risk mitigation across internal and external collaborators
• Maintain dashboards and data reports while coordinating compliance for samples moving between internal and external laboratories

Requirements

• Master's degree with 6+ years relevant experience OR Ph.D. with 2+ years experience
• Experience in matrixed pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or similar industry structures
• Strong data presentation and organizational skills with scientific documentation expertise
• Familiarity with genomic, molecular data, and associated management systems
• Ability to critically evaluate scientific data and external partner validation evidence
• Excellent interpersonal communication and independent problem-solving abilities
• Preferred: translational research, biomarker strategy, or hematologic malignancy experience

Compensation: $159,180.80 - $238,771.20 USD base
