Position Summary

Square 1 Industries is seeking a motivated Junior Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineer to support manufacturing operations, process improvement, production planning, process digitization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and an interest in manufacturing systems, data analytics, process automation, and technology-driven operational improvements. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams while helping develop tools, dashboards, reports, and workflow systems that improve efficiency, visibility, and decision-making throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, throughput, and workflow.

Develop and maintain work instructions, process documentation, standard operating procedures, and production records.

Support labor studies, capacity planning, production scheduling, and workflow optimization.

Collect, analyze, and report production, quality, and operational performance data.

Create dashboards, reports, KPIs, and metrics to support management decisions.

Assist with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement projects.

Support Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams in problem-solving and root-cause analysis activities.

Assist with the digitization of manufacturing processes, quality documentation, and workflow tracking systems.

Support development of internal databases, electronic forms, reporting tools, and operational dashboards.

Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve information flow throughout the organization.

Required Software Skills

Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, and reporting)

Microsoft Power BI for dashboard creation, KPI tracking, and data visualization

Microsoft Power Apps for forms, workflow applications, and operational data collection

Microsoft Power Automate for process automation and workflow improvement

Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint

ERP/MRP software experience and the ability to work with operational and manufacturing data

Strong computer, reporting, and analytical skills

Basic understanding of databases, data structures, and business systems

Preferred Technical Skills

Microsoft Copilot or other AI-assisted productivity and development tools

Using AI tools to assist with software development, workflow automation, dashboard creation, reporting, documentation, and data analysis

Microsoft Dataverse, SharePoint Lists, or other Microsoft data platforms

SQL or basic database query experience

Power Platform solution development

Experience building dashboards, workflow applications, data collection tools, or business process automation solutions

Familiarity with Python, JavaScript, or other scripting/programming languages

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field

1-3 years of manufacturing, engineering, operations, or data analysis experience preferred

Electronics manufacturing experience preferred

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and process mapping

Experience with Odoo ERP or similar manufacturing ERP systems

Experience creating dashboards, reports, databases, workflow applications, or business process tools

Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Self-motivated with a desire to learn and continuously improve processes
