About the Position

Job Opportunity – NICU Registered Nurse – Virginia

Start Date: August 17, 2026

Location: Salem, Virginia

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week; includes 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; huddle begins at 6:45 AM; block scheduling available

Highlights:

• Newly opened NICU (November 2023) featuring state-of-the-art equipment including GE 650 monitors, Medela breast pumps, syringe pumps, IV pumps, and bili-lights
• 6-bed unit with 5 open bays and 1 isolation room; patient ratios of 1:2-3
• Documentation systems include Meditech and Centricity Perinatal
• Excellent collaboration with neonatology team providing comprehensive multidisciplinary care
• Supportive team environment with RN and respiratory therapy staff available
• Opportunity to utilize advanced NICU skills including ventilator support, CPAP, UVC placement, surfactant administration, and TPN management

Requirements:

• Active RN licensure
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Proven IV insertion skills with preterm and term infants
• Strong independent assessment abilities and recognition of declining health indicators in preterm infants
• Breastfeeding support knowledge and strong communication skills
• Preferred: Experience caring for and stabilizing critically ill infants requiring ventilator support, CPAP, umbilical line placement, surfactant administration, needle decompression, and TPN/lipid administration
