Our organization is seeking applications from dedicated physicians or physician scientists who are passionate about clinical care, translational research, and clinical trials focused on gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. This opportunity is available within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have a significant impact in an academic environment. Collaborate with national laboratories and serve the diverse populations of New Mexico through innovative research and clinical trials.

We take pride in offering comprehensive cancer care that is unique to New Mexico. As part of our expansion initiative, we are excited to introduce new services that will enhance the treatment options for GI cancer patients. This includes access to the state’s only radiotherapy MR Linear Accelerator, which allows for real-time imaging during treatment, thereby improving precision medicine. Additionally, the project will create more treatment spaces for patients who can benefit from targeted radioisotope theranostics.

• Collaborate with surgical oncologists who specialize in various gastrointestinal malignancies, including colorectal, gastric, esophageal, and hepatopancreaticobiliary tumors, as well as gastrointestinal stromal tumors, neuroendocrine tumors, appendiceal neoplasms, and peritoneal surface malignancies.
• Explore expanding regional cancer therapies such as hepatic arterial pump infusion and intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
• Design and conduct clinical trials for gastrointestinal cancers.
• Work alongside 136 oncology physicians and 123 research scientists.
• Educate residents and fellows in an academic medical setting.
• J-1 visa opportunities are available.
