Assistant General Counsel - AI & IG Compliance

- Provide support with ethical issues to senior members of the Office of the General Counsel, the Professional Responsibility Committee, and firm attorneys
- Serve as a subject matter expert in AI and Information Governance risk
- Advise on the responsible and ethical use of AI in the legal context
- Guide and enforce compliance policies related to e-discovery, subpoenas, file transfers, and client file retention
- Serve as a key contact for questions about firm policies, procedures, and ethics requirements
- Advise on professional responsibility, ethics, confidentiality, and compliance matters
- Collaborate with Risk Management, AI & Knowledge, and IT to develop best practices for AI tools and data management
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive culture within the Office of General Counsel
- Help manage and train attorneys and staff in the Office of General Counsel
- Complete special projects assigned by senior members of the Office of General Counsel and Risk Management team
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate
- Active law license in good standing in at least one state
- Eight+ years of experience in a law firm, preferably in a litigation role
- Expertise in ethical use of AI and principles of sound Information Governance
- Strong knowledge of professional responsibility rules and law firm operations
- Curiosity and drive to expand expertise as issues facing large law firms evolve
- Outstanding judgment, diplomacy, and communication skills
- Ability to gain the confidence and respect of partners, associates, staff, management, and clients
- Ability to provide clear and concise information under strict deadlines
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
- Customer-service-focused mindset
- Appreciation for confidential information and ability to communicate similar obligations to others throughout the firm
