This role is responsible for the oversight of two floors, ensuring exceptional clinical quality, operational excellence, and team engagement across both service lines. The leader ensures delivery of high quality, patient centered care for complex respiratory and medically acute populations, including tracheostomy and ventilated patients. Acute Care Medicine manages patients with a full range of clinical issues—from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, gastrointestinal conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and a multitude of other conditions and diseases. Because of our patient acuity, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse. The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse. Additionally each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care. Role Purpose The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to Nurse Managers and direct reports. This includes coordinating patient care, performance management of direct reports, equipment purchasing/management, and statistical accumulation. Responsibilities Manage individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, training, assignment, performance evaluation, professional development plans. Ensure productivity and actions of staff meet operational goals of the department. Participate in departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets, adhere to budget goals. Provide and oversee patient care according to planned interventions with regard to age and developmental needs. Create and implement collaborative care plans based on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Support review of staff hours worked vs scheduled hours and determine appropriate disposition for variations. Perform and approve daily payroll updates; reconcile time cards, bonus tracking, and coding approval. Prepare, coordinate and execute all staff communications; prepare huddle agendas and lead meetings. Determine staffing needs; make nursing assignments and assign overtime. Recommend effective annual increases. Interview staff for open positions; conduct performance reviews; draft and issue corrective actions/ coaching; follow up on disciplinary actions. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend areas for improvement.
