This is a leadership role responsible for partnering with Accounting, Finance, Internal Audit, Technology, and business leaders to ensure an effective and sustainable SOX program. The position manages a team and plays a critical role in strengthening governance, improving processes, and driving a strong controls culture across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the company's SOX (ICFR) compliance program, including annual planning, risk assessment, testing strategy, and execution.
• Manage and develop a team responsible for internal controls and SOX compliance activities.
• Partner with Accounting, Finance, IT, Internal Audit, and business stakeholders to evaluate and strengthen internal controls.
• Oversee the documentation, design, implementation, and testing of key business and IT controls.
• Coordinate with external auditors and internal audit throughout the annual SOX cycle.
• Monitor control deficiencies and remediation efforts, ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
• Evaluate the impact of new accounting standards, business initiatives, and system implementations on the control environment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, automation, and effectiveness of the SOX program.
• Provide guidance and education to business partners on internal control best practices and regulatory expectations.
• Prepare reporting and presentations for senior leadership regarding SOX compliance, control effectiveness, and emerging risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA preferred but not mandatory.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, SOX, internal controls, internal audit, or financial reporting.
• Big 4 or national public accounting experience is highly desirable OR experience in a public company.
• Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), COSO Framework, and Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR).
• Experience working with SEC registrants or large public companies preferred.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and cross-functional initiatives.
• Excellent communication, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence senior leaders and build strong business partnerships.
