This role will grow local community volunteer capacity and design new volunteer opportunities to meet mission, community, and evolving volunteer needs. This person will work as a player/coach directly engaging volunteers in their assigned jurisdictions and supporting volunteers and volunteer specialists across the region to meet mission needs in their areas.Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.Specific responsibilities:Engage volunteers for episodic/event-based opportunitiesCollaborate with volunteer leadership committeesCoordinate Home Fire Campaign activitiesOversee Restoring Family Links community outreachCoordinate veteran programs at regional Veteran Administration facilitiesWHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):Manage the Community Volunteer WorkforceGrow the community volunteer capacity, engage external partners and the community to meet local needs for community based programming including preparedness programs, restoring family links, veteran services and other regionally approved servicesLiaise with community programming leads (EDs and CVLs) to understand and meet workforce needsCommunity Services Volunteer managementCreate visibility and engagement of internal volunteers, youth groups, and partners in chapter opportunitiesOpportunity DesignDesigning and share new and non-traditional volunteer opportunity types to mobilize the communityManage the VS workforce systems and processes to ensure recurrent and one-time community services are staffed fullyServe as a subject matter expert in the design of volunteer opportunities to best meet the needs of the community, organization and volunteerContinuous ImprovementSupport the organizational learning and adoption of new and non-traditional volunteer opportunities with line of businessData and reporting on Community Services volunteer impactProgram and process improvementVolunteer and Employee Matrixed ManagementDirectly lead teams of volunteers locally and regionallySupport peers across the region who may lead local community volunteer teamsPAY INFORMATION:The salary range for this position is $70,664-$77,088Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):Education: Bachelor's degree required.Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Volunteer Management experience preferredManagement Experience: N/ASkills & Abilities: Ability to work on a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple and continuously evolving priorities effectively. Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Knowledge of group dynamics, customer maintenance techniques, negotiation skills, and the ability to effectively implement programs is preferred.Travel: May involve travel.Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).-Physical Requirements : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
