Buyer III

Overview Amentum is seeking a Buyer III responsible for procurement of materials, components, supplies and/or services in accordance with procurement procedures, contract requirements and federal acquisition regulations. Works with local and international suppliers to formulate purchase agreements and arrange shipment and receipt of materials for assigned program. Job Duties and Responsibilities Reviews requisitions and works with requisitioners to resolve unclear requirements; processes orders within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Obtains material from supplier at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and urgency; confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Obtain multiple quotes to establish competitive pricing; obtain vendor setup information and assist in setting up new vendors in compliance with government and company requirements. Award purchase orders in accordance with the FAR; prepare and follow up on orders to expedite delivery and shipment; obtain certifications of delivery and conduct checks against orders. Maintain necessary records and files; perform other position-related duties as assigned. Communicate Purchase Order/project status with end-users and customers. Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Collaborate with project departments to support overall enterprise operations. Review vendor invoices for accuracy and work with accounts payable to resolve issues for payment processing. Perform other position-related duties as assigned or requested. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3+ years with a Master’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. FAR knowledge. DOD Procurement experience. Knowledge and experience with the Service Contracts Act (SCA). Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information effectively to managers, clients, suppliers, and customers. Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US citizenship required). Preferred Qualifications Local candidates willing to support a hybrid role: 2–3 days onsite in Houston, TX once the office is open; remote otherwise. Compensation Details $85,000 The compensation range or hourly rate listed for this position is provided as a good-faith estimate of what the company intends to offer for this role at the time this posting was issued.
