Job Summary

Classic Lamp Parts is seeking a confident, resourceful, and creative Sales & Marketing Assistant with a Business Development focus to help grow our customer base, develop new business, reconnect with existing customers, and support sales and marketing activities. This is a full-time, in-house position in Long Beach, California and is not remote or hybrid.

This is a hands-on, assistant-level position with a primary focus on identifying new business opportunities and reconnecting with existing customers. The role also includes marketing, administrative, and general business support responsibilities.

The primary focus of this position is finding and developing new business.

The ideal candidate is an excellent researcher who is comfortable using technology and online resources, confident making outbound calls, professional in written and verbal communication, organized with follow-up, and motivated by finding opportunities and helping grow a business.

Business Development & Customer Growth

• Research and qualify prospective customers using company websites, industry directories, social media, professional networks, AI/research tools, and other online resources; find the appropriate contacts within each company, maintain organized prospect information, and continually explore new ways to identify potential customers and business opportunities.
• Research prospects before contact, prioritize the strongest opportunities, and confidently introduce our company and products through professional outbound phone calls and emails.
• Maintain consistent follow-up with prospects after calls, emails, catalogs, samples, and other outreach, tracking conversations and next steps so promising opportunities are not overlooked.
• Review sales history to identify declining, inactive, or lapsed customers; research their accounts and proactively reconnect to understand current needs, regain business, and identify additional product opportunities.
• Build positive relationships with prospective and existing customers, make customers feel valued, and communicate useful feedback or sales opportunities to management and the sales team.

Research, Sales Analysis & Marketing Support

• Use Excel, internal sales reports, customer history, internet research, social media, AI tools, and other available resources to analyze purchasing patterns, identify sales opportunities, and research new industries, customer types, geographic markets, competitors, trends, and customer segments.
• Assist with market and competitive research to help management evaluate product positioning, market competitiveness, and potential areas for growth; organize findings into useful, actionable information.
• Support social media content, email campaigns using platforms such as Constant Contact, customer/prospect email lists, flyers, mailers, promotions, company introductions, samples, product information, and other marketing materials.
• Assist with catalogs and other product marketing projects by gathering and organizing product information, proofreading content, coordinating materials, and contributing creative ideas for customer outreach and sales growth.
• Assist with website content and marketing-related updates, including product information, images, and promotional content.
• Coordinate projects with outside vendors, freelancers, developers, designers, and contractors by communicating requirements, providing necessary information and materials, reviewing work for accuracy, following projects through completion, and researching outside resources when specialized assistance is needed.

Qualifications

• Excellent telephone, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; comfortable making outbound calls and speaking with people you have never met.
• Excellent written and verbal business communication, including strong grammar, spelling, sentence structure, tone, and attention to detail; able to represent the company in a polished, courteous, and professional manner.
• Strong internet research, computer, and Microsoft Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, organizing, and working with customer or sales data.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and the ability to learn new software, online platforms, AI/research tools, and company systems.
• Organized, accurate, creative, curious, resourceful, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple prospects, projects, and follow-up activities while turning research into actionable ideas.
• Willing to provide occasional support to other departments during periods of high workload or staffing needs and assist with other reasonable business and operational needs as necessary.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience in sales, business development, lead generation, customer service, marketing, prospect research, or outbound customer/prospect contact.
• Experience with Constant Contact or similar email marketing platforms, website content/e-commerce/content management systems, or coordinating projects with outside vendors, freelancers, developers, designers, or contractors.
• Experience using AI tools for research, productivity, or business purposes.
• Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, or similar graphic design experience is a plus, as is experience with catalogs, product marketing, or print marketing materials.

Previous experience is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates who demonstrate the right combination of confidence, communication skills, research ability, creativity, resourcefulness, and motivation.

Schedule & Work Location

• Full-time
• Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• In-house / on-site position in Long Beach, California
• Not remote or hybrid

Applicants must be able to reliably commute to our Long Beach location for their scheduled work hours.
