Maintenance Technician I

Maintenance Technician ICarroll Independent School District seeks a Maintenance Technician I to aid in creating a learning environment that inspires success and responsibility. This position will assist skilled maintenance workers as a helper in any of the skilled trades such as plumbing, painting, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, locksmithing and other general trades.The Maintenance Technician I will:Receive and complete work orders.Assist skilled workers with repair and maintenance of district facilities, including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches, fixtures, and motors; painting, repairing, and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken glass.Inspect building exterior and interior, playground equipment, and grounds; perform maintenance and minor repairs.Inspect jobs upon completion to assure safe operation.Respond to emergency calls as required.Keep abreast of innovative practices.Be adaptable and flexible in acceptance of changes in techniques and procedures.Maintain a professional level of confidentiality regarding all district matters.Uphold and adhere to safety rules.Support the goals and objectives of the district and follow district policies.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications include effective interpersonal skills, the ability to follow verbal and written instructions, a current Texas driver's license, the ability to operate a district assigned vehicle, and knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures.The position involves exposure to extreme indoor and outdoor conditions, hot/cold weather, dust/fumes/odors, moving vehicles, mechanical parts, and potential communicable diseases. The work is classified as sedentary to heavy, requiring frequent lifting and carrying of objects.
