Kitchen Assistant / Food Service Associate

Schedule:

• Wednesday: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Thursday: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Friday: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM
• Saturday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM
• Sunday: 10:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Flexibility is available, but candidates should be open to working at least one weekend day.

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and team-oriented Kitchen Assistant to support daily food preparation, meal service, and kitchen operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly
• Follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout the kitchen
• Properly handle, label, store, and rotate food products
• Support opening and closing kitchen procedures
• Clean kitchen equipment, prep stations, tools, and storage areas
• Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to leadership
• Help ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently
• Follow all workplace safety, hygiene, and food handling procedures
• Collaborate with team members to maintain smooth kitchen operations

Required Qualifications

• Basic understanding of kitchen preparation and cooking techniques
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Positive attitude and team-focused mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in food service, hospitality, community dining, or institutional kitchens
• Experience with large-volume meal preparation
• Familiarity with inventory management and kitchen organization
• Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience serving diverse populations and cultural food preferences
• Exposure to healthcare, wellness, nonprofit, or community-based environments
