Insurance Coverage & Litigation Associate / Senior Associate | New York | 4+ Years | $140,000-$200,000 + Bonus

AJ Chambers are delighted to be working with a growing national law firm seeking an experienced Insurance Coverage Attorney / Insurance Coverage & Litigation Associate with 4+ years of experience to join its established insurance practice in New York.

\n

This is a sophisticated insurance coverage and insurance litigation opportunity representing insurers, businesses and professionals in complex coverage matters, disputes and litigation.

\n

\n

The successful candidate will have substantial experience analysing insurance policies and coverage issues, preparing coverage opinions, and litigating declaratory judgment and bad faith actions in state and federal courts.

\n

\n

Experience with D&O, E&O, professional liability, commercial general liability (CGL), property, fiduciary liability or other specialty insurance policies is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

\n

• Draft sophisticated insurance coverage opinions
\n
• Review and analyse insurance policies and policy language
\n
• Analyse claims, claim files and underlying litigation
\n
• Assess coverage obligations and potential coverage disputes
\n
• Advise insurers and other clients on coverage positions
\n
• Draft coverage correspondence and legal memoranda
\n
• Handle declaratory judgment litigation
\n
• Handle bad faith litigation
\n
• Draft complaints, answers, motions, briefs and other pleadings
\n
• Conduct written discovery
\n
• Take and defend depositions
\n
• Conduct legal research and coverage analysis
\n
• Develop litigation strategy
\n
• Manage matters from inception through resolution and trial
\n
• Represent clients in state and federal courts
\n
• Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel
\n
• Work closely with senior attorneys while taking meaningful responsibility for active matters
\n

\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• JD from an accredited law school
\n
• 4+ years of insurance coverage experience
\n
• Significant experience with insurance coverage analysis and policy interpretation
\n
• Experience litigating declaratory judgment actions
\n
• Experience with bad faith litigation
\n
• Ability to manage litigation matters from inception through trial
\n
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions and legal briefs
\n
• Experience handling discovery
\n
• Experience taking and/or defending depositions
\n
• Experience conducting legal research and legal analysis
\n
• Experience in both state and federal courts
\n
• Active New York Bar admission in good standing
\n
