DESCRIPTION

Community Ophthalmology is dedicated to developing and implementing a model program that serves children throughout San Diego County. Under supervision of the Program Director, incumbent will complete vision screenings for over 15,000 children throughout San Diego County each school year. Preferable fluency in written/spoken Spanish and English, the incumbent will coordinate scheduling for vision and hearing screenings for school sites, schedule sites for comprehensive eye exams, and manage children referred for further care in the community. Performs medical data entry, assists clinic employees on patient translations and scheduling, and helps maintain relationships with schools, children, and their parents. Is responsible for various fiscal duties and reporting mandates, all reimbursements, and works closely with the supervisor to identify, gather, and complete grant proposals for the division that will create sustainability. Meets with patients recently diagnosed with eye disease to offer community resources. Other duties as assigned. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced community educational and volunteer educational management program professional to resolve a wide range of educational program issues and needs assessments. Develops new community educational programs and works on complex community educational programs or volunteer educational management programs of diverse scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering courses, presentations, and development programs. Receives general instructions and exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for course and instructional improvement. Fully knowledgeable in course subject matter and program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of related experience, education/training, or an Associates degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training plus three (3) or more years of relevant experience. Thorough knowledge of the functional area and an understanding of how work may impact other areas. Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem‑solving skills. Thorough and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills. Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of and skill in delivering programs. Thorough knowledge of current community educational programs and trends. Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations/courses to meet organizational needs. Knowledge of managing a portfolio of business and management courses at the university level. Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated fluency in written/spoken Spanish and English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Employment is subject to a criminal background check. Must utilize safe and reliable transportation methods for all work‑related travel and be willing to travel to various community sites throughout San Diego County (including Head Start Centers, San Diego Unified School District locations, and other designated sites). Must be available some evenings and/or weekends. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $55,400 - $93,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $26.53 - $44.92 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
