RN Post Anesthesia Care Unit

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to post-operative adult patients in a high-volume, high-acuity level 1 trauma center environment. The role requires working as part of a team in a fast-paced setting, ensuring patient recovery and safety following anesthesia. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and experience in PACU nursing are essential. ICU experience is preferred. Responsibilities:

• Monitor and care for post-operative adult patients recovering from anesthesia.
• Assess patient conditions and respond to changes promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to provide high-quality patient care.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during the recovery process.
• Communicate directly and positively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Participate in unit activities including holidays, weekends, on-call, and call-back as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
• Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience required.
• American Heart Association BLS certification.
• American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Excellent communication and independent working skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing.

Special Considerations:

• Work involves rotating shifts including day, evening, and night shifts.
• Must be available to work holidays, weekends, on-call, and call-back as required.
• Fast-paced, high-volume, and high-acuity trauma center environment.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week with rotating day, evening, and night shifts.
• Shift schedules include holidays and weekends.
