Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12-Hour Days or Nights

Schedule: 36 Hours per Week after Orientation (No Guaranteed Hours)

Pay Rate: $50.00 to $60.00 per hour

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Flex Pool Med/Surg - Step Down assignment at Hilo Medical Center. The RN will float between various medical and surgical units while providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Unit Information

• Medical Unit - 77 Beds
• Laulima Surgical Acute Unit - 18 Beds
• Cardiovascular Unit - 15 Beds

Nurse to Patient Ratios

• Medical Unit: 1:6 (Days/Eves), 1:8 (Nights)
• Laulima Unit: 1:6
• Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
  (Ratios may vary due to census and staffing needs)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in Med/Surg and Step Down units
• Float between Medical, Laulima, and occasionally Cardiovascular Units
• Administer medications and monitor patient conditions
• Utilize Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care

Requirements

• Active Hawaii RN License required by assignment start date
• Candidates without Hawaii license must apply upon offer acceptance
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS required
• ACLS preferred
• Preferred Certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
• Must provide documented proof of immunity (medical/religious exemptions not accepted)
• Strong communication and clinical assessment skills required

Orientation & Training

• Unit-specific orientation and training provided for each assigned department

Dress Code

• Professional Nursing Attire / Clean Scrubs
