Position: RN - Registered Nurse (Flex Pool) - Med/Surg - Step Down

Facility: Hilo Medical Center

Location: Hilo, HI 96720

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Shift: 12-Hour Days or Nights

Schedule: 36 Hours per Week after Orientation (No Guaranteed Hours)

Pay Rate: $50.00 to $60.00 per hour

Job Description

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Flex Pool Med/Surg - Step Down assignment at Hilo Medical Center. The RN will float between various medical and surgical units while providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Unit Information

Medical Unit - 77 Beds
Laulima Surgical Acute Unit - 18 Beds
Cardiovascular Unit - 15 Beds

Nurse to Patient Ratios

Medical Unit: 1:6 (Days/Eves), 1:8 (Nights)
Laulima Unit: 1:6
Cardiovascular Unit: 1:4
(Ratios may vary due to census and staffing needs)

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care in Med/Surg and Step Down units
Float between Medical, Laulima, and occasionally Cardiovascular Units
Administer medications and monitor patient conditions
Utilize Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care

Requirements

Active Hawaii RN License required by assignment start date
Candidates without Hawaii license must apply upon offer acceptance
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
BLS required
ACLS preferred
Preferred Certifications: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
Must provide documented proof of immunity (medical/religious exemptions not accepted)
Strong communication and clinical assessment skills required

Unit-specific orientation and training provided for each assigned department
