Job Description
Life Enrichment Director – Independent Living
Charter Senior Living of Calumet Trace | Owensboro, KY
$20.00–$24.00/hour | Full-Time
At Charter Senior Living of Calumet Trace, Independent Living should be more than a place to live—it should be a lifestyle residents are excited to be part of.
We're looking for a creative, outgoing, and highly organized Life Enrichment Director / Programming Director who can build a vibrant calendar of experiences that brings residents together and makes our community feel active, connected, and fun.
This isn't about simply filling an activity calendar.
We want someone who gets to know our residents, understands what interests them, and turns those interests into events, outings, clubs, entertainment, educational opportunities, social experiences, and community traditions that residents genuinely want to attend.
If you're full of ideas—and you're the type of person who actually makes those ideas happen —we'd love to meet you.
What You'll OwnAs our Independent Living Life Enrichment Director, you'll take ownership of the resident lifestyle and programming experience.
You'll:
Develop and manage an engaging monthly programming calendar
Plan and lead social events, entertainment, outings, celebrations, clubs, educational programs, wellness activities, and special events
Create programming based on residents' individual interests and feedback
Build relationships with residents and encourage meaningful participation
Introduce fresh ideas and experiences that keep programming exciting
Coordinate entertainers, instructors, speakers, vendors, volunteers, and community partners
Plan resident outings and coordinate transportation needs
Create opportunities for resident-led clubs and programs
Help new residents build connections and become involved in community life
Organize larger signature events and community celebrations
Manage programming budgets, supplies, calendars, and documentation
Promote upcoming events and generate excitement throughout the community
Collaborate with other department leaders on community-wide initiatives
Partner with Sales & Marketing to showcase the Independent Living lifestyle during tours and events
Help strengthen resident satisfaction, retention, referrals, and overall community culture
Build relationships with local organizations and businesses to expand programming opportunities
You naturally think of new experiences residents might enjoy—but you're also organized enough to take those ideas from concept to execution .
Social & EngagingYou're comfortable walking into a room, starting conversations, introducing people, leading an event, and creating an atmosphere where people want to participate.
Resident-FocusedYou don't assume you know what residents want.
You get to know them, ask questions, listen to their feedback, and build programming around their interests, talents, experiences, and goals.
OrganizedGreat programming requires more than personality.
You'll need to manage calendars, vendors, entertainment, transportation, budgets, communication, supplies, and multiple upcoming events without losing the details.
