JOB SUMMARY The Recruiter Retail partners closely with the Recruiting Manager Retail, store leadership, and Human Resources to deliver timely, high-volume hiring for hourly roles across Ascends 50+ retail locations. The incumbent oversees hiring efforts from requisition through offer acceptance, leads hiring events, and coordinates candidates through each stage of the process so stores are fully staffed with engaged, customer-focused talent. The incumbent also works with People Operations to move new hires smoothly into onboarding and state badging in compliance with applicable cannabis regulations. This role sets the tone for the AWH candidate experience, giving every applicant a welcoming, professional first impression of Ascend. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, manages multiple requisitions across many locations, and brings a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach to retail talent acquisition. Location: Remote, supporting Ascends states of operation: IL, MI, OH, PA, MD, MA, NJ (travel as needed) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee full-cycle recruiting for hourly retail roles across 50+ locations, from intake through offer acceptance, so every store has the staffing it needs on time. Work in alignment with the Recruiting Manager Retail to prioritize requisitions, set hiring plans by market, and adjust focus as store needs and openings change. Partner with store and regional leadership to understand staffing needs, anticipate hiring demand, and keep leaders informed on candidate pipelines and hiring status. Plan, schedule, and lead hiring events, including open houses and job fairs, to build candidate volume and fill multiple roles quickly. Coordinate candidates from application through start date, including screening, interview scheduling, offers, and communication, so no candidate falls through the cracks. Conduct proactive sourcing through a variety of channels, including the ATS, job boards, referrals, local outreach, and community partnerships. Maintain a large, dynamic requisition load across multiple states and markets, ensuring speed, quality, and compliance. Collaborate with People Operations and Retail teams to hand off new hires smoothly into onboarding and employee badging. Ensure all hiring activities adhere to state-specific cannabis regulations, applicable employment laws, and internal compliance requirements. Deliver a positive, professional candidate experience while representing Ascends values and employer brand. Track and report recruiting metrics, such as open requisitions, time to fill, and event results, and recommend improvements to hiring efficiency and processes. Other tasks as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS 2+ years of recruiting experience, with demonstrated success in high-volume or hourly workforce environments; retail, hospitality, or multi-site experience strongly preferred Experience planning and leading hiring events preferred Experience with an applicant tracking system (ATS) and candidate sourcing tools Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or a similar discipline preferred, or equivalent experience Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requisitions, locations, and deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills; able to partner with store leaders and HR at all levels Familiarity with compliance-heavy or regulated industries is a plus Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Willingness to travel to retail locations and hiring events as needed Must be able to pass all required background checks for state badging and HR Must be over 21 years of age Passion for people; candidate experience and service Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and maintain composure under pressure Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Continuously: Visual acuity Frequently: Sitting; talking; hearing; repetitive use of hands/arms; grasping; eye/hand coordination Occasionally: Standing; walking; reaching overhead; subject to noise; lifting and carrying 10 lbs. or less Not Applicable: Bending over; crawling; climbing; crouching; kneeling; balancing; pushing or pulling; repetitive use of legs; fine manipulation; lifting or carrying over 10 lbs.
