Adjunct Faculty - Music Industry (Fall 2026 - Spring 2027) Job Summary: The Department of Music at Jacksonville State University (Jax State) invites applications for an adjunct music industry instructor. The successful applicant will teach courses such as music industry history, contemporary issues and trends in the music industry, marketing/entrepreneurship, and arts management. A minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline is required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the structure of the music industry, record labels, music licensing agencies, digital content creation and distribution, and fundamentals of arts management including U.S. copyright law. Ability to analyze industry data and trends, operate production software, interpret contract language and design agreements, coordinate music events, and demonstrate how to manage budgets and finances. Teach undergraduate courses: The History of the Music Industry, Music Licensing & Intellectual Property, Contemporary Issues in the Music Industry, Arts Management and Concert Production. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 18 credit hours in the discipline or related field. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in the discipline and industry experience in management, production, publishing, or marketing.
