Registered Nurse - PreOp

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Pre-Op RN will provide specialized preoperative nursing care to adult patients, preparing them for surgery and ensuring all necessary protocols are followed. This role involves coordinating with surgical teams and providing a smooth transition from preoperative to operative phases.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient condition preoperatively and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and perform interventions to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and staff to coordinate patient care.
• Document patient information accurately in the Meditech EMR system.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, protocols, and post-op expectations.
• Monitor patient vitals and respond promptly to any changes or emergencies.

Qualifications:

• Current RN license with a minimum of 1-year recent acute care Pre-Op RN experience.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Meditech EMR system.
• Prior experience with preoperative procedures, including Urology, GYN, Endo, Cath lab, EP, and outpatient infusions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
