Custodian- 2nd Shift

Vacancy Notice Position: Custodian – 2nd Shift Location: Seth Whitman Elementary School Start Date: July 13, 2026 Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.; occasional weekend work Contract: Twelve‑Month Employee Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Experience working custodial in a school environment Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of basic math Prioritize work based on changing situations Use equipment under various conditions for multiple purposes Use email and electronic systems to receive and process work orders Strong problem‑solving skills to identify issues and create action plans Adaptability to changing priorities, communication with diverse groups, meeting deadlines, teamwork, handling interruptions, and displaying custodial aptitude Physical Requirements Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; fine finger dexterity Approximately 10% sitting, 60% walking, 30% standing; ability to support 100 pounds Possible work in extreme temperatures, hazardous conditions, or at various heights and cramped spaces Personal protective equipment (PPE) required; promotion of safety practices Responsibilities High and low dusting Clean and disinfect bathrooms, shower rooms, classrooms, offices, and other rooms as assigned Wash and clean walls and windows as necessary Collect and discard waste and recycling in designated areas Scrub and wax floors under direction of the Custodial Manager or designee Perform general maintenance as instructed (routine repairs to buildings and equipment) Replenish paper towels, hand soap, and toilet tissue as necessary Perform set‑ups as directed by the Custodial Manager or designee Perform seasonal maintenance to the grounds (e.g., snow, ice) Perform boiler and air‑conditioning checks and log conditions as directed Lock and secure all School District property and buildings Work with other team members on tasks requiring more than one person Notify the Custodial Manager or designee of mechanical defects or unsafe conditions Attend in‑service training as directed Obey and adhere to all work and safety policies Perform other duties as assigned by the Custodial Manager or designee Comply with all District policies, including those in the Personnel Policy Handbook May be required to work off‑shift hours on emergency calls Examples of general maintenance: troubleshoot mechanical/equipment issues, change light bulbs, repair clocks/speakers, use hand‑operated drain cleaning tools, clean or change filters on HVAC equipment, lubricate/grease equipment, install/repair furniture, paint/caulk, repair signage, cut and install ceiling tiles and grids, install flooring #J-18808-Ljbffr
