Project Manager - Boston

Position Overview New Ecology, Inc. (NEI) seeks a Project Manager to join a growing team of professionals in its Boston, MA office. The Project Manager will play a pivotal cross‑functional role serving New England, coordinating with internal program, engineering, project, and field services teams as well as external partners, property owners, and real‑estate development teams to improve performance, occupant health, and resiliency of existing and new multifamily buildings. This technical role requires continual learning of building science practices and technologies. Duties and Responsibilities Project Technical Duties Lead design meetings to identify and target feasible, cost‑effective sustainable design performance strategies. Support partners with applications for Low Income Housing Tax Credits and incentive programs that fund sustainable building improvements. Review technical documents such as building plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure design intent and certification requirements are incorporated and that green and energy efficiency features are buildable. Educate team members on and facilitate, document, and track compliance with high performance/green building rating systems, such as LEED, Passive House, Enterprise Green Communities, and ENERGY STAR. Perform construction inspections to ensure projects are built as designed, program requirements are met, and issues are identified and resolved to owner’s satisfaction. Work with the engineering team to conduct post‑occupancy evaluations and generate case studies. Project Management and Stakeholder Engagement Duties Foster and nurture client relationships. Represent clients before government agencies in permitting and compliance discussions. Mentor and manage other staff on project work. Provide QA/QC oversight and review of project deliverables produced by others. Manage project budgets, internal team contributions, milestones, invoicing, and deliverables. Attend project meetings and lead discussions on relevant sustainability issues. Write necessary certification and regulatory reports, site reports, and case studies. Represent New Ecology at conferences. Qualifications Project Management Skills Experience with program and/or project management. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent a plus. Experience managing multiple projects, including budgets and deliverables. Strong client management and stakeholder engagement skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral (presentations) and written. Technical Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of green building and energy efficiency strategies and technologies. Significant, demonstrated experience in building science. Knowledge, experience, and/or accreditation in one or more relevant green building rating systems (Passive House, ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction, LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, Living Building Challenge, etc.). Knowledge of large and small multifamily and single‑family buildings/building systems. Knowledge of HVAC systems and building codes. Technical competence in reading and interpreting specifications and plans. Experience in construction management and field inspections. Experience interpreting data, financial calculations, and energy models. Working knowledge of rebates and incentive programs available to building owners. LEED AP and/or Phius CPHC certifications are a plus. Work Location Position is based in Boston, MA and serves initiatives from the greater New England area. Physical presence at the Boston office is required two (2) days per week, with additional regular travel to project sites across the region. Some evening meetings are required. Travel Candidate should have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation. Routine local and regional travel to meet with clients, partners, and to visit job sites within the region is expected, and occasional overnight trips to conferences and other NEI offices are required. Schedule Full‑time (40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.) Compensation $66,000 – $88,000 per year, based on experience. The potential range for this role is $66,000 – $110,000, with typical hires within the lower half and strong potential for performance‑based growth.
