Assistant Superintendent – Public Sector Position Summary Brockwell & Carrington Contractors, Inc., a leader in New Jersey’s public‑sector construction, is seeking a junior Assistant Superintendent with hands‑on field experience on public works projects. This position supports the Project Superintendent in the daily execution of ground‑up construction and is ideal for a motivated field professional looking to grow within a General Contracting organization. Key Responsibilities Assist the Project Superintendent with daily on‑site construction operations. Support coordination and oversight of subcontractor activities to ensure work is performed safely, in sequence, and in accordance with the contract documents. Monitor daily progress and assist with short‑interval planning and look‑ahead schedules. Perform routine site walks to verify quality, sequencing, and compliance with plans and specifications. Assist with site logistics, material deliveries, and trade coordination. Maintain daily field reports, site photos, and project documentation. Support enforcement of safety requirements and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings. Assist with inspections, punch lists, and quality control activities. Communicate field conditions, issues, and progress updates to the Project Superintendent and Project Manager. Qualifications 3–5 years of experience on public‑sector construction projects (required). Experience on ground‑up public works projects strongly preferred. Ability to read and interpret Architectural, Structural, Civil, and MEP drawings. Working knowledge of construction sequencing, site logistics, and trade coordination. Carpentry or masonry background preferred but not required. Familiarity with NJ public‑sector requirements and prevailing wage standards preferred. Proficiency with construction field technology, including Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office. Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with subcontractors, inspectors, and internal project team members. OSHA 30 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Work Location Position may float between projects as needed. A more permanent project assignment is anticipated in late Spring 2026. Salary: Commensurate with experience.
