Coordinator of Tutoring

This position supports the operation of the GVSU Tutoring & Reading Center (TRC), a comprehensive peer tutoring and supplemental instruction program. The role co-leads a team of peer tutors and support staff, coordinating and delivering academic support to students individually and in groups. Additionally, this position assists in collaborating with campus partners to develop, enhance, and implement a broad range of tutoring programs and services designed to promote student success and improve retention. The TRC is a part of the Knowledge Market, located within University Libraries & Art Museum, and serves all colleges at GVSU.Salary & Benefits:Minimum starting salary of $47,000, commensurate with experience.Limited benefits package including medical, life insurance, wellness resources and tuition waiver effective on date of hire.PRIMARY DUTIES1. Support the mission, vision, and goals for the TRC, and Knowledge Market as a whole, to provide equitable, inclusive, and effectivetutoring services for all students.2. Use data to make informed staffing decisions to ensure adequate and responsible coverage for the Tutoring and Reading Center,addressing a wide range of subject areas and disciplines.3. Coordinate and manage the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, and evaluation of peer tutors.4. Assist the Administrative Lead in promoting the TRC and Supplemental Instruction through campus partnerships and marketinginitiatives.5. Assist the leadership in assessing the effectiveness of tutoring services, including the development and analysis of student surveys,usage reports, progress reports, and impact studies.6. Provide support to the Supplemental Instruction program and facilitators as needed.7. Perform other duties as required/assigned by leadership.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDBachelor’s degree required.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong preference for collaborative approaches to problem-solving.Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a team environment.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues across academic disciplines and student support areas.Commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, and purposeful support to students from all backgrounds and levels of academicpreparation.Strong commitment to inclusive access and equity in both the workplace and student services.Demonstrated ability to provide constructive and supportive supervision to a diverse team of student employees, peer tutors,and support staff.Experience mentoring undergraduate students and undergraduate student employees.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED:Master’s degree, preferably in a higher education field such as Student Affairs, Adult and Higher Education, EducationalLeadership, or College Student Development.One to three (1–3) years of experience in learning needs assessment, tutoring, or academic support services; an equivalentcombination of education and experience may be considered.Proficiency in using technology systems such as Microsoft Office Suite and EAB Navigate (or comparable tutoring/academicsupport software).Demonstrated experience in training and public speaking, supported by coursework and/or professional experience.Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities simultaneously.At least two (2) years of supervisory experience with student employees and support staff.Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Workday and EAB Navigate (or similar systems).How to Apply:Attach your cover letter and resume.
