Safety Specialist
The Safety Specialist is a full time position responsible for conducting routine field safety audits, reporting, and training (as needed) to support our Virginia operations. This person will report to our Corporate H&S Manager and support our industrial, site & civil, and transportation/logistics business units.
Essential Functions
- Implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration PHMSA, Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Department of Transportation / Federal Motor Carrier Administration (DOT/FMCSA).
- Perform safety audits and inspections on daily basis
- Correct deficiencies identified, prepare written reports of findings, and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures
- Assist with maintaining safety files and records with corporate management.
- Conduct post-accident investigation

Required Eligibility Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of related field experience and/or training in 1910 General Industry and 1926 Construction.
- Must have valid driver's license for vehicle type driven with acceptable, clean driven record.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or carry loads of up to 50 lbs.

- Employees may be required to work in excess of 40 hours per week and other than normal business hours, such as holidays, evenings, and weekends as business demands.
Hours of Work
- Typical week will consist of Monday – Friday, 8-10 hours per day
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined by
- Must be available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the employer determines are necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.
Travel
- Must be able to travel overnight some of the time.
