GPC Solar / BESS / DERs - I&C Technician – South Region Position Overview The purpose of this position is to provide O&M support for GPC R2Gen - Solar / BESS / DERs facilities in the Western area of the South Georgia Region. (Ft. Benning, Ft Mitchell, AL & Shiloh, GA). The successful candidate should expect to have primary responsibilities in the southern half of the state but could be asked to provide support elsewhere if needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of utility‑scale PV solar plants, distributive energy resources, and battery energy storage facilities across the state of Georgia. Duties include monitoring and operation of the assets through SCADA, inspections, troubleshooting and repairs of AC and DC systems. Equipment includes inverters, PV modules, combiner boxes, battery energy storage systems, SCADA, plant controllers, metering systems, transformers, switchgear, RICE generators, etc. Routine work with 600‑1500V DC systems and familiarity with medium‑voltage AC up to 34.5 kV is required. The candidate will manage site compliance, contractor admin, environmental, health and safety. All technicians in this role must facilitate and execute LOTO using Generation SafeTK. IBM Maximo is used for planning, executing and documenting work, managing inventory and tracking equipment issues. Typical work schedules include 5/8s or 4/10s, with possible adjustments. Must be available for night, weekend, holiday work, on‑call, and storm duty. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of industrial or power plant facility operations and maintenance Knowledge in electrical and mechanical safety Understanding of industrial safety practices such as LOTO, switching, maintenance processes, and basic compliance obligations Proficient in reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints Proficient with DC systems and equipment Fundamental understanding of medium and high voltage AC systems and equipment up to 34.5 kV Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects Self‑directed, responsible, and accountable Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities Physical fitness for demanding tasks Responsibilities Travel to and from site locations around the region or state as needed May be assigned to one site Assist with planning, coordinating, and scheduling of site maintenance activities and projects Execute site operations and maintenance activities and projects Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment Site compliance facilitator and executor (environmental, health, and safety) Site contractor compliance facilitator and executor Site LOTO administrator, facilitator, and executor Maximo user – PMs, CMs, CDs, inventory, PRs, POs, and record keeping Participate in team meetings (morning, planning, safety, etc.) Complete all assigned training Effectively communicate with team leader and team members Position Requirements and Preferences Must live in or near the West Georgia region (within one hour drive of both Fort Benning and Shiloh) EEI TECH test qualified Approved two‑year technical degree from a certified technical institution or military equivalent Available for extended work hours including nights and weekends Available for call‑outs to support operational needs Flexible, forward‑thinking, and strategic minded Self‑motivated, customer‑focused, and able to work alone or in a team Effective team player with a positive attitude towards work Preferred: Work experience in Solar or BESS plant maintenance and operations Preferred: Working knowledge of Maximo Preferred: Working knowledge of SafeTK Preferred: Contractor compliance experience Preferred: Knowledge of medium and low voltage distribution systems Southern Company is an equal opportunity employer where an applicant’s qualifications are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other basis prohibited by law. #J-18808-Ljbffr
