Material Handler

About the Role:

The Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and accurate movement, storage, and management of materials within a warehouse or production environment. This position is responsible for receiving, inspecting, and organizing incoming materials, as well as preparing and staging materials for shipment or production use. The Material Handler ensures that inventory levels are maintained accurately and that materials are handled safely to prevent damage or loss. This role requires close collaboration with warehouse staff, production teams, and logistics personnel to support seamless operations. Ultimately, the Material Handler contributes to the overall productivity and operational success by maintaining a well-organized and responsive materials flow.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics environment.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment safely, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Basic math and organizational skills to manage inventory and documentation.
• Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds regularly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Forklift certification or equivalent training.
• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory software.
• Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations.
• Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced production or distribution environment.

Responsibilities:

• Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments to verify accuracy and quality of materials.
• Organize and store materials in designated locations to optimize warehouse space and accessibility.
• Prepare and stage materials for production lines or outbound shipments according to schedules and priorities.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and documentation updates.
• Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to coordinate material flow and resolve discrepancies.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.

The Material Handler uses organizational skills daily to maintain an orderly warehouse and ensure materials are easy to locate and retrieve. Attention to detail is essential when inspecting incoming shipments and updating inventory records to prevent errors. Physical stamina and safe operation of equipment like forklifts are critical for moving heavy materials efficiently without injury.
