Geotechnical Specialist

Summary : Geotechnical position supporting geology, development engineering, well planning, and drilling execution.  Involved in all stages of development of a well, including identification of locations for future development.  Working with geological data, well records, and existing maps to generate key maps involved in oil and gas development.   This is highly integrated role, and entails working with geologists, subsurface engineers, operations, and management.  

 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:
1.  Geology database management, including well data loading, wireline log interpretation, and map generation.
2.  Responsible for generating prognosis logs for active drilling program, including supportive mapping material.
3.  Integration with development and operations team to compile “end of well” reports and lookbacks.     
4.  Responsible for coordinating wireline logging of new wells, integrating the data into subsurface software, and updating interpretation and mapping.
5.  Responsible for identifying all necessary formations on new wireline and MWD logs, organizing and finalizing logs and well data. 
6. Integration with development and operations to submit required well-specific geological information to the DEP and DCNR.
7. Responsible for developing, and regularly reviewing, work and safety protocols for wellsite geology work, wireline logging and mudlogging operations.  
8.  Responsible for conducting mapping and/or data analysis projects as directed by supervisory personnel within the Geology Department or as part of inter-departmental project teams.

Qualifications
1.  Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or related fields. Some college-level math and chemistry background.  
2.  0-3 years of experience
3.  Basic understanding of geology principles related to structure and stratigraphy.
4.  Excellent communication skills.
5.  Good interpersonal abilities for working in a team environment.
