What You Will Do Performs daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on doors and traditional style locks throughout city facilities and buildings. Requires competence in several trades, with more than one at or above the acceptable skilled level. Ability to work independently or in teams and occasionally serve as a crew leader over Building Maintenance Workers on specified projects. Determines appropriate work methods, tools, and materials for most assignments. Assignments involve numerous trades and skills, such as rough carpentry, cabinet making, plumbing, routine electrical or welding work, roofing, painting, drywall finishing, concrete/masonry work, and locksmithing. What You Will Bring To The Team A dedicated employee with extensive journey-level experience in the maintenance, repair, alteration, and remodeling of buildings, offices, houses, and other facilities. Ideal Candidate Ability to work independently and safely using various tools and equipment of the trades, Volt Ohm Meter, and climbing ladders. Knowledge and skills in: Installing, maintaining, and repairing door components including locks, closures, door frames and hinges. Plumbing codes and standards in repair/replacement of fixtures, drains, water heaters, etc. Commercial/residential drywalling, repairs, taping, texturing and painting. Using computer, file management, and productivity software. HVAC maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. Salary Pay Range: $26.18 to $38.68 per hour. Hiring Range: $26.18 to $31.82 per hour. Effective July 6th, the following pay rates will be in effect: $26.70 to $39.45 per hour; Hiring Range: $26.70 to $32.46 per hour. Pay Range Explanation Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will consider skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase. Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease. Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade. When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit. Completion of an acceptable apprenticeship program; OR six years of trades experience (three at the skilled level) with proficiency in at least two building trades. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. All finalists are subject to a criminal background check. This position requires the use of a City or personal vehicle on City business. Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Preferred Qualifications The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in/with the following: Working with doors with electronic access control systems, low voltage locking, automatic door openers, control gates, and door closing units. Plumbing installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems and fixtures. Door components installation and repair (locks, closures, frames, hinges). Painting surfaces inside and outside buildings. Electrical repairs/installation of motors, outlets, switches, lighting, and exhaust fans. HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting; use of multimeter. Working with metal framing and drywall, tape and texturing tools. Microsoft Office software. Rough and finished carpentry; ability to lead work groups.
