Safety Specialist II

As a Safety Specialist III, you will be a senior member of the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) team, responsible for driving continuous improvement in safety performance, leading complex safety initiatives, mentoring junior team members, and serving as a subject matter expert on HSE matters. Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of HSE policies and procedures. Perform detailed safety inspections and risk assessments. Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees. Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, and near‑misses, and develop preventive measures. Maintain and analyze HSE metrics and data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Coordinate emergency response and preparedness activities. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address HSE concerns. Ensure compliance with industry‑specific HSE regulations and standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 2+ years of experience in a related field. Relevant experience can be considered a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related experience is required. Higher‑level relevant degree may substitute for experience. In‑depth knowledge of federal, state, and local HSE regulations. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of occupational health & safety standards, EPA, OSHA, and NFPA regulations. Demonstrated ability to conduct job hazard analysis, site audits, and incident root‑cause analysis. Fluency with data capture, data analytics, spreadsheets, and presentations. Preferred Qualifications Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), and/or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) certification. Advanced knowledge of HSE management systems. Familiarity with or direct experience in implementing or maintaining ISO 45001 certification. Subject‑matter expertise or certification in one or more of the following areas: Radiation Safety (officer) Laser Safety (officer) Fall Protection Lockout/Tagout Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E) MEWP & PIT program management Thermography Hazardous Material Transportation Lithium‑Ion battery safety and storage First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer OSHA 500/501, OSHA 510/511 Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field. Experience with DCMA INST 8210. Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry. Essential Functions Conduct safety inspections and audits, which may involve walking, climbing, and standing for extended periods. Lift up to 25 lbs regularly. Work in various environments including office, manufacturing, and outdoor settings. Work in a team and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Travel as required. Use computers and software applications related to HSE.
