POSITION SUMMARY :

The primary purpose of the Fitness & Recreation Center (F&RC) is to provide facilities that enhance the learning experience by supporting the academic programs in the Health and Wellness Division. The F&RC also supports Intramural Programs and the College Athletic Programs. The function of the F&RC is to provide quality recreation, fitness programs, through facilities designed to enhance and contribute to the development of the total person. The F&RC will promote enjoyable activities and provide opportunities for positive social interaction for the; individual, family, and community. Recreational opportunities include basketball, volleyball, swimming, jogging, weight lifting, racquetball, tennis, aerobics, yoga, pilates, soccer, and more. General Function: Provide guidance and leadership to F&RC group exercise classes. Under the direction of the Fitness & Rec Manager the instructor will teach a safe and fun class. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING :

GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR

Start and end class on time as scheduled, find a substitute as needed. Monitor participants and help them understand perceived level of exertion, and heart rates. Count class participants, if necessary collect receipts and check passes. Record class numbers. In the event of injuries or emergencies the instructor will administer any first aid need until relieved by a more qualified individual. Work with Campus Police and Facilities Management to ensure completion of accident forms. Change music and choreography on a regular basis. Attend continuing education seminars to keep certification current. Teach only safe exercises recommended by ACSM , ACE , AFAA , Delta College or N'Deita. Report any equipment in need of repair promptly to the F&RC manager or their designee. Become knowledgeable about all F&RC programs and help promote them to class participants. Attend staff meetings as scheduled. Check equipment (music, mats, weights, water noodles, etc.) to ensure it is put away in the proper place.

LEADERSHIP TEAM MEMBER :

Will assist with membership retention and promotion by: Answering member's questions and assisting with any problems/concerns they have. Promote all programs. Will work with other staff to assure quality programs and services with clean, and safe facilities - teamwork is important. Must have a current CPR & AED certification Basic first aid knowledge Teaching experience and an aerobic certification (or working towards) by the following agencies: AFAA , ACE , Delta College, or N'Deita. Certification by another agency must receive approval from the Fitness & Rec Center Manager Must be enrolled at Delta College and registered for a minimum of six (6) credit hours.
