Advance Practice Nurse (Psychiatric Mid-Level Practitioner)

Duties

Responsible for meeting the mental/behavioral health needs of the inmates assigned to their caseload. Providing thorough mental health evaluation, providing initial diagnosis, initiating treatment and coordinating programs for patients suspected of having psychiatric disorders. Responsible for the development of the treatment plan and/or mental health component of the ambulatory treatment plan and subsequent reviews for patients under their care. Balances medical and mental health needs of patient caseload with institution security and staff safety needs. Provides inpatient and outpatient services for mental health patients and consultant services for medical/surgical patients requiring psychiatric intervention. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
