Position Purpose Patent Agent for Stoke’s Intellectual Property team. Report to Head of Intellectual Property; support the patent portfolio and IP strategy. Key Responsibilities Draft responses to USPTO office actions; coordinate foreign office action responses with outside counsel/associates. Draft/assist provisional, non‑provisional, PCT, continuation, divisional, and foreign patent applications. Support global patent prosecution strategy; work with outside counsel on filings/prosecution positions. Review/analyze prior art, office actions, search reports, written opinions, and examination reports. Maintain/update patent docket, portfolio, invention disclosure records, and IP documentation. Partner with scientists to identify patentable inventions and develop protection strategies. Review disclosures and scientific materials (publications, posters, abstracts, presentations, manuscripts) for IP implications. Deliver IP training (invention disclosures, publication review, confidentiality, filing strategy, IP hygiene). Conduct patentability/landscape/FTO/validity and competitive intelligence searches. Monitor competitor filings/publications/clinical developments and patent office proceedings; summarize third‑party positions and IP developments. Required Skills & Experience Registration to practice before the USPTO. BS in a relevant life sciences/chemistry field (advanced degree preferred). ~3–5 years patent prosecution experience (law firm, biotech, or pharma). Ability to draft/prosecute biotech/pharma/chemical/life sciences patent applications. Experience responding to USPTO office actions. Familiarity with foreign prosecution. Experience conducting patentability/prior art/landscape/FTO/competitive intelligence searches. Strong technical judgment; excellent written/verbal communication; attention to detail and deadline management; collaborative. Technical/patent experience with antisense oligonucleotides, RNAi, mRNA, or related modalities is a plus.
