Enterprise Data Steward Location: Virginia (Local Candidates Preferred) Work Arrangement: Hybrid Interview Process: Web Cam and In-Person Interview Employment Type: Contract Rate: $70 to $75 Job Summary Our Client is seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Steward to support enterprise data governance and data quality initiatives by partnering with business stakeholders across the organization. This is a business-facing data stewardship role focused on relationship management, data governance, coaching, and data quality—not software development, data engineering, or solution architecture. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data management, data governance, stakeholder engagement, and business process documentation. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned business divisions, helping improve data quality, develop stewardship artifacts, and promote enterprise data management best practices. Note: This is not a developer, data engineering, architecture, or coding position. Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills are essential. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary liaison between assigned business divisions and the Enterprise Data Program. Build and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and data stewards. Lead client meetings, establish expectations, and ensure successful completion of stewardship activities. Facilitate monthly data stewardship meetings and governance discussions. Guide business users in developing Data Dictionaries, Business Rules, Data Scoping Documentation, Data Quality Documentation. Coach and mentor business users on data governance, stewardship, and data quality best practices. Support enterprise data quality initiatives by preparing datasets for quality measurement. Assist with identifying, documenting, and resolving data quality issues. Promote consistent data management standards and governance practices across business units. Coordinate stewardship activities across multiple divisions while tracking priorities and deliverables. Collaborate with subject matter experts, business leaders, and system owners to improve data quality. Develop and maintain stewardship documentation and governance artifacts. Deliver training sessions to improve data literacy and stewardship capabilities. Monitor stewardship progress and provide regular status updates to program leadership. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to enterprise data governance. Required Qualifications Minimum 8 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Management, or a similar business-facing data role. Strong understanding of Data Management Principles, Data Governance Frameworks, Data Quality Concepts, Data Stewardship Processes. Demonstrated experience serving as the primary client contact, managing stakeholder relationships and driving customer-focused outcomes. Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, and stakeholder discussions. Strong experience creating and maintaining Data Dictionaries, Business Rules, Data Standards, Data Documentation. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Experience coordinating activities across multiple business units. Ability to guide non-technical business users through data governance activities. Strong documentation and process management skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Collibra or similar Data Governance platforms. Experience supporting Enterprise Data Governance Programs. Experience implementing Data Quality initiatives. Familiarity with Metadata Management and Business Glossaries. Experience developing Data Governance policies, standards, and procedures. Experience delivering business-facing training and workshops.
