Commercial HVAC Design-Build Estimator

Base salary + commission. Expected First-Year Earnings $150,000 - $250,000

Full-Time | Portland, OR Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

For more than 50 years, Sun Glow Inc. has been a trusted HVAC contractor serving homeowners and businesses throughout the Portland area. As we continue to grow, we're expanding our commercial division and are looking for an experienced Commercial HVAC Design-Build Estimator to help generate new business, design HVAC solutions, prepare competitive estimates, and help deliver successful commercial projects.

What You'll Do

• Develop relationships with general contractors, builders, and commercial clients
• Generate new commercial HVAC project opportunities through networking and business development
• Review construction drawings, mechanical plans, and project specifications
• Perform site visits, field measurements, and existing equipment assessments
• Design and develop commercial HVAC system solutions based on project requirements
• Prepare HVAC layouts, equipment selections, and conceptual designs using AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, or similar software
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations and evaluate system capacity requirements
• Design duct layouts and evaluate airflow, static pressure, friction loss, and overall system performance
• Select rooftop units, split systems, furnaces, boilers, packaged equipment, and other HVAC components
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
• Participate in bid reviews, negotiations, and project handoffs to operations
• Support installation teams through project execution, field coordination, commissioning, and final project closeout

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of commercial HVAC project engineering or mechanical design experience
• 3+ years of commercial HVAC estimating experience
• Experience preparing commercial HVAC bid proposals
• Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC equipment, system design, and installation practices
• Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design and estimating software
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, mechanical plans, and project specifications
• Knowledge of heating and cooling load calculations, equipment sizing, duct design, and airflow principles
• Familiarity with applicable mechanical and energy codes
• Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational and project management abilities
• Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
