Job Overview Under general supervision, the position is proficient in all of the functions required of the Assistant Cytopreparatory Technician. They are directly responsible for decision making, interacting, and reporting to the Cytology Prep Team Leader/Supervisor and/or Manager. Responsibilities All job accountabilities and duties required of the Assistant Cytopreparatory Technician. Accessions and processes Gyn specimens for microscopic evaluation, including assigning accession numbers and Thin Prep Processing. Follow all local, Business Unit, and corporate safety policies and assure compliance of the Cytology Prep Lab. Dispose and label biohazard waste appropriately. Perform minimal problem solving. Maintain specimen identification and integrity throughout all processes of the department. Begin and complete all assignments with minimal supervision. Collaborate with other departments and colleagues for problem solving. Pay great attention to details and remain calm in difficult situations. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1 year of Anatomic Pathology experience preferred. Anatomic Pathology experience is desirable but not required. Physical and Mental Requirements Finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling specimens and supplies. Large amounts of standing, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching. Lift and carry objects up to 30 lbs. Work in a chemical environment. Risk of exposure to infectious materials and the possibility of injury due to chemicals.
