Construction Laborer – Sitework

This role supports a sitework construction team by performing a wide range of field tasks across multiple phases of site development, including paving, excavation, utility installation, grading, pipe work, concrete work, and general labor. You will work outdoors in varying weather conditions as part of a fast-paced crew, using hand and power tools to help maintain a safe, productive, and high-quality job site. This role will offer $20 - $25 an hour and we are open to people of various skill levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site development activities such as paving, excavation, grading, and utility installation.
• Support pipe work and concrete-related tasks, including preparation, placement, and finishing as directed.
• Perform general labor duties including cleaning, loading, unloading, and job site clean-up.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for construction, carpentry, and production tasks.
• Measure and mark materials accurately using tape measures and other basic tools.
• Handle landscaping-related tasks as needed to support overall sitework construction.
• Lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more in a safe manner.
• Follow directions from supervisors and crew leaders to complete daily work assignments.
• Work collaboratively with crew members to meet project timelines and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site in compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Consistently adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate reliability through consistent, on-time attendance and dependable transportation.
• Communicate clearly with team members to coordinate tasks and resolve issues on site.

Essential Skills

• Previous sitework or heavy civil construction experience.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical work and safely lift 50 pounds or more.
• Experience with general labor and construction tasks, including production work.
• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a construction environment.
• Basic carpentry skills and ability to work with concrete.
• Ability to use a tape measure and perform basic measurements accurately.
• Experience with landscaping or sitework-related outdoor tasks.
• Dependable transportation and consistent, on-time attendance.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisors and crew leaders.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.
• Current OSHA 10 certification.
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.
• Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
• Experience in pipe laying is preferred.
• Experience with utilities work is beneficial.
• Previous experience on construction new build sites.
• Comfort working on both vertical construction projects and occasional horizontal work.

Work Environment

Work takes place on active construction new build sites focused primarily on vertical construction, with some horizontal work as needed. The role is entirely field-based and outdoors, requiring comfort working in varying weather conditions and in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment while performing tasks such as excavation, grading, utility installation, pipe work, concrete work, and general clean-up. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety standards, including OSHA requirements, and maintaining a clean, organized, and productive job site.

This is a Contract position based out of Meriden, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
